Few places are as romantic as Lake Como, and even fewer resorts as beautiful as Bellagio. Called the “Pearl of the Lake”, Bellagio’s world class hotels and restaurants provide the perfect place to plunge into the lake’s famous panorama. The village is characterised by centuries-old buildings, stone lanes and picturesque cobbled stairways filled with shops showcasing the finest Italian wares.
Villa Melzi is one of the most famous villas on lake Como. It was conceived as a summer home in a neoclassical style typical of the first decades of the XVIII century. The architect Giocondo Albertolli planned it for Francesco Melzi d’Eril, vice president of the Italian Republic and great friend of Napoleon.
A perfect example of neoclassical style, Villa Melzi is surrounded by enchanting gardens with century-old rare and exotic trees and classical statues. The Villa and its gardens, today a national monument, are privately-owned but partially open to the public.
Open from March to October.
